Palace & others

Palazzo Pitti boldly rose up into sight, screaming " Look at me! Look at me!" Although, I have to say, it did deserve to be looked at. The light brown walls, studded with hundreds of windows, were made of rock, and the front courtyard was paved with stone and two statues, a bold one and one that just blended in with the surroundings. I decided that I really liked the look of it.

Inside the palace, once owned by the Medici's, it was very ornate and decorative. In fact, the palace had an aboveground passage way that connected to the Palazzo Vecchio, the Medici's previous residency. The golden sculptures and marble statues placed around the courtyard. We decided to head up the top floor stairs to see the Palantina Gallery and the Royal Apartments.

Paintings and sculptures of the middle ages furnished the top floor, which used to be the chambers of the royals. The rooms showed the artworks, mainly of gods, and also the furniture of the royals. My favourite room was the Queen's Room, a room elegantly furnished and accompanied with pale blue draperies. The bed was pale blue, and had a canopy, also pale blue. This queen LOVED pale blue. Well, she must've. She also had a lounge, table and two comfy chairs. Can you guess what colour they were?

We then went into the Modern Art gallery, beginning from the nineteenth century. By this time, guns and harpoons had been invented, so most of them were paintings of people at war. But there were also pretty pictures too, of people farming contentedly. The artists of these really captured the happy expression on these people's faces. Ahh, to live a life like that...

The Costume Gallery, the next gallery to see, held the clothing of the past centuries, beginning from about the seventeenth century, ending at present day. Me, being an absolute fashionaholic, really enjoyed and appreciated this gallery. I really liked the dresses and the clothing. So, someone else in the world appreciated clothing as much me! Yay!

Finally, we headed into the Boboli gardens, the panoramic gardens of the palace. Exploring them, we took lots of pictures and just loved being on these idyllic gardens. Mmm, it was just lovely walking through the trees and paths and smelling the flowers, seeing the statues, all of it. Trees grew from every direction, and flowers too. I would never forget this.

Finishing the palace, we headed to explore the leather part of Florence.
This area of Florence held the main shops for leather, which Florence was famous for, to get leather jackets. The leather department store, Peruzzi, that we went into, out of all the leather stores we went into, had lots of nice leather jackets. I got a nice, tight fitting grey one, soft as a baby's bottom. I really liked it.

We decided to have dinner at a restaurant in Piazza Vecchio. There was an orchestra playing, and so, as we ate, we had a free concert. It was relaxing.

The day's final sliver of light vanished, and we headed back to the hotel. The beds tempted us to them, and we plunged into deep sleeps.

  1. Are you doing something for Toyota over there. Also Sophie S swears she's been to the exact some places that you've been in the pictures.
